What People Are Saying

From Lulu/Bookstore – reader reviews

The artwork made the story come alive! It reminded me of my Golden Book era that has left scenes imprinted in my mind for years. If I had a favorite it would have to be the cover with Granny, Roxy and the greatest story teller, the star! I love the photo of the full cellar that shows how granny prepares for the future. I also love granny looking at her improvised manger and reflecting on the season and the one where she is looking at her family photos. I would imagine that granny was thankful for her many blessings! By Donna Elkins  Nov 19, 2025

My husband and I just read Roxy the Fox to our two grandchildren this afternoon. They are 7 and 11. We all enjoyed it thoroughly. There was even a bit of suspense in the story and Camden, the 7-year-old, had worry on her face when Granny ran out of food but all ends well. We all loved the illustrations. This is a story we will read regularly! By Angie Altstaetter  October 31, 2025

I just finished Roxy the Fox. The story is a special Christmas story to read at Christmas time that will be a nice change from the usual ones that focus on the presents we anticipate receiving. Roxy and the Fox shows how giving and caring are wonderful gifts to give. It is a story that will appeal to all ages – from grannies to little children. The artwork is beautifully created and appropriate to the rustic, soft country setting. I promise you will enjoy this lovely Christmas tale.

I read Roxy the Fox to my grandchildren, William  and Charlotte.  It was such a special time, curling up on the bed with them and reading this delightful story.  They were captivated by the story and the beautiful pictures.  When asked what they most liked about the story, they said they were sad that Granny had lost her dog and cat, but were happy that she had Roxy to save her.  I’m looking forward to making it one of our Christmas traditions and can’t wait to read it to them next year.   By Frankie Pitts

Roxy is not just for Christmas

Robyn took Roxy to the Port St. Joe Elementary School in March.  Ms. Deal’s 4th and 5th grade art classes thoroughly enjoyed the story.  She read/told the story with the book and artwork on the screen.  They were attentive and gave great feedback.  The major theme they took away was that “Kindness always comes back to you.”  Many were surprised at the fox bringing the chickens to Granny and what Granny thought about dying.

Nivaeh (5th grader) touched Robyn’s heart when she added a comment to the top of her worksheet, “I loved the book – best one I’ve read in forever!!”
